The days seem to all just flow into one another…Weekdays, weekends, holidays, work days….they are all the same…..work.
There seems to never be a break in the workload….and honestly, if you don’t force yourself to take a break, it will not happen….You have to switch off, and take a break – regardless of how much work you still have left.
There will always be more work – which is really a privilege. However, in order for you to function optimally and to work at your best capacity, you have to stop, take a day, and then continue.
If it is at all possible, jot down the most important things that need to be done at a certain time, and make sure that they are done when they need to be done, and then, rest.
I have been struggling to rest, for most of my life. Honestly, it is just a skill that I have never learned. And, I am not blaming anyone, it was just not a part of my life. But, having kids, I have realised that it is extremely important to portray a balanced life to them. And, a balanced life includes a life of rest.
So, even though it is really difficult, it is something that I have to do. I have to model what it looks like to have a healthy balance, physically, spiritually and emotionally.
I love that life is a journey and that we get to learn so many things…always.
