My kids did not go back to school on Monday the 6th of July.
They are going back on Monday the 13th of July.
These are such amazingly different times. Honestly, you need to be VERY adaptive to be able to live every day successfully. And, you cannot plan for the intricacies of every day, because it changes the whole time.
A part of me really loves it, a part of does not love it so much. There is a necessity in routine, in structure, in normality that we all need – no matter how creative we are. However, I have found that you are able to create that routine in the things you can control. Because, even though there are so many things that are out of our control, there are some things that are in our control.
Like, lunch and dinner times, bath time, play time, sleep time. And, if you can find a way to keep to those routines, there is a measure of “norm” which keeps you sane.
Another thing, that I have found vitally important to my sanity, is regular conversations with the Lord. Throughout the day. Being able to voice concerns and just talk to Hime the whole time, whatever time of day or night, has really helped me to stay grounded.
And, then of course, you need to make time to be creative and feed your soul. You have to make time. Even, if it is during your toddler’s afternoon nap – make and keep time for you.
That’s it. Find routine in the things you can control, and make time for you.
